General Questions

Where are you located?
The Covey Center for the Arts is located at 425 West Center Street in Provo, at the west side of the Provo City Center complex.

What hours is the Covey Center for the Arts open?
We are open from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with shortened hours on Friday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. We are also open one hour prior to every performance.

What is your return policy?
All sales are final. No refundsExchange Policy: We will happily exchange your tickets during normal operating hours. (M-TH, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.) Exchanges may be made over the phone, or in person at the box office window, and cost $3 per ticket. Tickets must be presented at the time of exchange in order to obtain your new tickets. Times, dates, casting, repertoire, and programs are subject to change without notice.


Where can I park?
We recommend that you park behind the Covey Center, in the parking lot to the south of our building (accessible from 100 South; see map below).

I’ve never been to the Covey Center for the Arts. Can I come look around?
You’re welcome to stop by any time during the hours that we’re open. We’ll be happy to give you a personal tour.

Who is the Covey Center named for?
The Covey Center for the Arts was named in honor of Sandra Merrill Covey, a member of the Provo Arts Council and Chair of the fundraising committee.

How can I buy tickets?
You can call the Covey Center for the Arts Ticket Office at (801) 852-7007, visit us in person, or purchase tickets online at www.coveycenter.org.

I know you have performance events, but what else does the Covey Center for the Arts have to offer?
In addition to performances, the Covey Center for the Arts has two art galleries, the Eccles Gallery and the Secured Gallery, which feature a different exhibit each month. We also offer a variety of classes from dance to theatre to visual arts.

Can I rent any of the spaces in the Covey Center for the Arts?
Yes, we rent many of the areas in the Covey Center, including the performance hall, the black box theater, the boardroom, and the dance studios.

How much does it cost for space rental?

How many seats are in the performance spaces?
The performance hall seats 670; the Brinton Black Box Theatre seats 60. The seating in the Studio Theater varies, but it can accommodate up to 150.

I'd like to work at the Covey Center. How do I find out about open positions?
Our hiring is done through Provo City. Visit their website at www.provo.org/hr.hr_main.html . We often have open positions for members of our task force as well as for cashiers in our box office.

Can I volunteer to help at the Covey Center?
We love volunteers! If you'd like to help usher at one or more of our events, click here. It's a great way to see an event for free!

Questions about Events

How can I buy tickets?
You can call the Covey Center for the Arts Ticket Office at (801) 852-7007, visit us in person at 425 West Center Street, or purchase tickets online at www.coveycenter.org.

Is there a fee for purchasing tickets?
Yes, there is a $3 fee for the entire transaction if the tickets are purchased over the phone or online.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, checks and all major credit cards. 

Where is the ticket office located?
The ticket office is located on the first floor on the east side.

How can I receive the tickets I purchase?
If you purchase tickets at least two weeks before the performance, you will have the option to keep your tickets in will call or have them mailed to you.  If mailing is not an option for your event, your tickets will be held in will call. Call during our regular business hours, which are Monday-Thursday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

How do I qualify for senior or student discounts?
The discount for seniors applies to anyone age 60 and over. Student discounts are available to anyone who is a student, at any school. However, because different groups rent the building for their events, availability of these discounts varies. If you have a question about a particular event, please give our ticket office a call. (801-852-7007)

Do you offer group rates?
It depends on the performance. Call the ticket office at 801-852-7007 to find out if a group rate applies for a specific event. The normal rate is a 20% discount for 20 people or more.

When do performances start?
Most evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. (unless it is indicated otherwise); matinees are at 2 p.m.

I can’t use the tickets I purchased. What can I do?
All ticket sales are final, but you’re welcome to exchange them for another event prior to the performance date. Please note that tickets must be presented at the time of exchange, and there is a $3 per ticket fee for exchanges.

When do the hall doors open for a performance?
The doors to the hall open one half hour before the performance begins.

What should I wear to performances?
Nice dress is recommended.

Can I bring my small children to a performance?
Because the Covey Center is rented for a variety of events, this can vary. For many performances, children over the age of six are welcome, but babes-in-arms are not allowed. Most of the plays in the Black Box Theater are for grown-ups, and usually don't appeal to children under the age of 12. If you have a question about a specific event, please call the ticket office at 852-7007, and ask.

Are cell phones allowed?
During performances, all cell phones and other electronic devices must be silenced.

What if I’m late?
Latecomers will be seated at an appropriate break in the performance (which may be intermission). Due to the placement of the entrance in the Black Box Theater, there is no late seating.

How do I enroll?
For most of our classes, contact our Ticket Office, either by phone (801-852-7007), or in person at 425 West Center Street, Provo. For a select few, you’ll need to call the number in the class listing.

Where are the classes held?
Most of them are held in the Covey Center for the Arts dance studios, which are located on the second floor on the west side of the building.
