Why Donate to the Arts?

In this time of financial upheaval and uncertainty, why would we even consider contributing to the arts?

Believe it or not, in hard financial times, attendance at arts and entertainment events actually goes up, not down. When things are difficult, people look for opportunities to relax and enjoy themselves, and escape, even if only for a little while, from the hardships that they are facing.

In hard times,
the arts become more valuable to all of us.

But the arts aren’t very practical—they don’t really help us in tangible ways, do they?

Actually, the arts teach us how to think beyond boundaries and inventively overcome obstacles. When widely applied, the inherent concepts in the arts lead to monumental progress in every arena of life—from medicine to technology to public policy.

The arts help us to think beyond boundaries,
find new solutions and inspire change.

Art can be practiced privately. So why should we contribute to a public arts facility?

While artists can and do create and develop their talents on their own, they need somewhere that they can share their art, whether it be theatre, dance, music or visual media. And we—all of us—are better off for participating in events and experiences in the arts. Even more practically, facilities like the Covey Center for the Arts can bring new life and invigorate long-overlooked areas of our downtown.

The arts make our communities a better place to live.

Contributing to the Covey Center for the Arts will benefit you, your company, and your community.
